News Module

The Shado News Module enables you to easily manage and categorize all of your news articles and display them on your site how you want them. Importantly the News Module incorporates workflow. This means systems can be put in place requiring articles to be approved prior to publication on your site.


The News Module has been developed with flexibility in mind, and can be used for anything that is based around articles and categories.

Key Features

Categories

The News Module's flexibility allows you to create any number of news categories and articles can be associated with one or more categories. This allows users to filter news searches by category, and these can also be used to create multiple news sections on your site, each one being associated with a specific category.

Workflow

The News Module incorporates workflow and permissions. The workflow assigns people roles such as "Editor", "Publisher" or "Administrator". News "Editors" can create and edit articles, but they cannot publish them. News "Publishers" can create, edit and publish articles. "Administrators" can do all of these functions and also manage categories and permissions.

News Module articles are either:

  • Created
  • Awaiting Approva
  • Declined orApproved

Articles

The News Module enables you to create any number of Articles. Articles can be edited and previewed through the News Module interface or can reference an external URL.

To accommodate Users managing large numbers of Articles, existing Articles can be searched and filtered by:

  • Date range
  • Category
  • Status

Each Article has the following features as standard:

  • The ability to link to multiple categories
  • Headline, Short Description and Key Word features
  • The main body of the article is a HTLM field that uses a WYSIWYG Editor integrated with the FMS
  • The ability to reference external URLs for linking to articles stored on other websites
  • “Publish” and “expiry” dates can be applied to each article
  • The creators of articles are automatically recorded as their Author
  • The option of applying workflow processes to articles prior to being published
  • Article preview functionality

Search

To cater for potentially large repositories of articles, the News Module includes both a Database Search mode and a Verity Search mode. Articles can also be indexed for even faster searching.
The search function can be utilized in the front-end News templates you create.

Easily Create Customized Front-End News Pages

The News Module comes with sample front-end templates, including a News List, News Search and Article Details template. These can be easily modified to suit your site and style sheet.
