Business Events Sydney (BESydney)
BESydney is the driving force behind securing and promoting meetings, incentive travel programmes, conventions, exhibitions and special events for Sydney. The organization is a joint venture between the New South Wales government and BESydney members who are comprised of 300 business tourism suppliers. In many respects BESydney is in the business of networking and introducing individuals and organizations with the ultimate goal of winning business for Sydney, New South Wales and its members. It achieves this through a range of sophisticated sales, destination marketing activities and advisory services such as providing members with assistance in all areas of planning and executing conferences and exhibitions. BESydney assists around 100 organizations each year to bid for their meetings, conferences and events, by assisting them with submissions, government approval and bid documentation, and guiding them to the right services and publications. In 2003-04 the Bureau's efforts resulted in Sydney winning 45 bids for future events to be held in the city over the next 8 years, generating an expected $192 million in economic return for the city.

Challenge
The SCVB were looking to redevelop their website and required assistance with the planning, development, design and testing of the site. After careful consideration the SCVB made the decision to invest in the Shado CMS to provide a website framework and enable non-technical staff to manage and edit the new site's content.
The SCVB website focuses on three major stakeholder groups - members, meeting planners and delegates.

Results
BESydney project is a multi-phase delivery venture with the first phase recently sent live. This first stage encompasses a detailed scoping phase, full site design and site built with the Shado CMS.
BESydney has a large database of suppliers/members, Straker partner Gruden worked closely with BESydney and their overseas CRM partner to integrate their ASP.Net CRM application with the complex "Find a Supplier" search facility. This facility uses web services to pull data from the CRM application. Results from this search can be added to a users favorites list "My Directory" for comparison and quick reference.
The second phase of site development will include additional areas of functionality and is currently under construction.
