More than ever marketers understand the need to have web sites than run multiple languages and to converse with their clients in their own language. Multilingual websites also offer greatly increased inbound marketing from search engines. The big drawback to running sites in many languages has been the complexity of managing the content, translation process and continued synchronization of content. ShadoCMS has a unique parallel multi-lingual engine greatly simplifying the process of creating and maintaining multilingualwebsites.
The integrated Translation Management System allows worklfows to be setup that facilitate the translation process with third party translation systems and translation companies. ShadoCMS also has native integration with the Across Language Server which is a powerful and feature rich translation server which, enables organizations to delegate and efficiently manage translation projects.
A single Shado CMS content managed site can be run in many different languages including double byte languages such as Chinese and Japanese. Workflow and permissions integrate with the multi-language module to allow approval processes to be maintained across many languages from a central control point.
As a ColdFusion CMS, Shado CMS can leverage Java's use of UTF-8 encoding enabling you to use one encoding set for all languages.
Shado's multi-language content management features include:
- One page can be displayed in many languages
- When a page is updated in one language, content editors/translators for the other languages assigned to that page are notified and can update their language's pages
- Search is enabled in the selected language when a user is browsing the site
- Metadata is language specific for each page
- Language specific templates make it easy for the site to display a given page appropriately for a given language ie. if you are browsing in Chinese the language will flow down the page rather than across
- Realtime viewing of languages when editing content.
- It is easy for Editors to switch between languages when editing content
- Translation management engine; Shado CMS does not automatically translate content, rather it integrates with the Translation Management Engine that allows human translators to easily, accurately and quickly translate content

Parallel Translations
Every object (page, section, file etc) in Shado CMS can exist in multiple language formats with global settings determining which languages the system will use. For example in the illustration below 2 languages have been enabled for the site; English and German, with English being the primary language. Whenever a translation for another object does not exist it will default to the primary language version of the object.
Adding new language versions to existing pages or objects is very easy and can be achieved through one click of the mouse. Once the new language version is created it will then require translation from the primary language.
Multi-language Editing
Editing in any language and character set is possible through the integrated WYSIWYG editor.
Multi-language Content Searching
Shado CMS ships with the Lucene full text search engine which is used as the base for searching multi-language sites. Depending on the language being used by the visitor, the search will automatically return results from content and meta-data in the users chosen language. Multi-language Content Management Workflow
Content that is translated from a primary language is also integrated into the workflow process. Approvers for each language can be set against the appropriate pages ensuring full workflow integrity for all languages.
